Sleeping

  • Ivan loves to curl up with something (or someone) when he sleeps.
  • He often sleeps in the fetal position.
  • Though they have been getting better, he still has occasional night terrors ranging from "shaken up for a few minutes after waking" kind of scary to "wake up screaming in a cold sweat" kind of scary.
  • When he sleeps, he doesn't simply get under the covers. He nestles into them and curls them up in a little ball around him to make a small cocoon.
  • He's a fairly light sleeper, so a small little nudge should be enough to wake him up. UNLESS he is having a nightmare: when he's tossing and turning because of haunting dreams he'll be very difficult to wake up. Expect him to cling to you when you do manage to rouse him.
  • When woken up by force after a bad night/ woken up rudely, he'll pull the typical teenager move and put his head under a pillow. (He can be a stubborn little ass like that at times.)
  • When he wakes up on his own, regardless of the time of day or how long he slept, unless there is immediate danger he'll be groggy and sluggish. He may doze off if he gets a chance to sit  down before fully getting his brain into awake mode.

How To Comfort A Crying Russian

  • Hold him
  • Rock him
  • Reassure him
  • Pet his hair
  • Maybe sing to him
  • Make him feel safe
  • Make him feel loved
  • A blanket for comfort
  • And a shoulder to cry on
This is all because when Ivan was little, Katyusha (Ukraine) would baby him whenever he cried. She would rock him, hold him, pet his hair, sing to him, all of that stuff. Consequently, he loves being babied like this today, and it’s the best way to calm him down when he’s crying. He’s very embarrassed about this, so do it without telling him. He'll be thanking you on the inside.

Scarf

The one he got from Ukraine has tattered edges, and it's very special to him. He has quite a few scarves in varying colors and patterns. He loves tying them in bows.

Clothescanon

He likes to wear bright colors (pinks, greens, pale blues, yellows, etc.) His clothes are comfortable, loose, and cheery. He often dresses warmly out of habit.

His Bedroom

  • Pale yellow walls

  • A medium-sized bed with blue sunflower-print blankets and yellow pillows

  • On the bed is a fluffy pink throw-pillow

  • A rosewood desk

  • On said desk is a laptop

  • A baby blue dresser

  • And a sliding-door closet with yellow doors

  • Little crafts and pictures (mostly sunflowers) litter the walls and hang from the ceiling

The room has a very tidy feel to it.
